Transforming a tween girl’s bedroom can become a beautiful reflection of her evolving personality and interests. My daughter’s bedroom makeover was a delightful project that turned her space into a magical retreat. We started by choosing a color palette that reflected her personality— a dreamy blue haven.
Bristol has always known what she desired since she was a baby. When she expressed her wish for blue to be the primary color of her room, I felt uncertain about my ability to bring that idea to life. While blue is indeed a wonderful color, I wondered if there would be enough decor to transform her vision into reality.
Fortunately, we painted the bedroom walls when we moved in last August, so we didn’t have to paint them again. We selected Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams for most of the house. This soft, neutral tone complements the shade of blue we selected for the accent color perfectly.
Decor From Bristol’s First Room in Our New House:
When we initially moved in, Bristol was still comfortable with most of her belongings from our previous home. This provided me with some time to allow her to grow and discover her new interests. I still cherish the decor from her little girl room! Here’s a glimpse of what she used to have in her space.

She absolutely adored pink and enjoyed showcasing her Cuddle and Kind stuffed animals. Her cozy bean bag chair was the perfect spot for her to engage in her beloved seek-and-find activities or immerse herself in her favorite book series. While this space captured the essence of a little girl, we recognized that it was time to transition to a more sophisticated room.
From Child to Tween: The Epic Bedroom Makeover!
I purchased furniture for Bristol’s room at Crate&Kids a few years ago, and its durability has been impressive—I haven’t needed to buy anything new since! I’m particularly fond of the Jenny Lind Collection, as it seamlessly transitions from a little girl’s room to a tween or teen space.
Dreaming in Shades of Blue
I started searching on Pottery Barn Teen because I just love their home decor and figured they would have some pieces I could incorporate into a tween bedroom. They had the perfect look that Bristol was looking for. The LoveShackFancy Ornate Border Rug, although very blue is prefect in this space and really creates a soothing atmosphere that can calm you as soon as you walk in.
The bedding and pillows are also from Pottery Barn Teen, perfectly complementing the matching rug. The Sweet Scallop Coverlet, Washed Cotton Ruffle Organic Duvet Cover, and Washed Cotton Ruffle Stripe Sheet Set blend beautifully when layered together. I truly adore the scalloped edges and the charm they add to her room.

Stylish Tween Desktop Accessories
The right accessories can transform any workspace into a personalized haven of creativity and fun. I discovered this delightful LoveShackFancy Desktop Spinning Organizer that holds pens and pencils, as well as keeps barrettes, clips, headbands, and lip gloss neatly arranged. And let’s be honest, I still have a soft spot for buying my daughter Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers. Ha! This gorgeous Gold Scallop Desktop Organize provides the perfect space for journals and delightful pens, allowing your girl to express her creativity through drawing or writing down her thoughts.
I also found the most beautiful LoveShackFancy Vanity Mirror at Pottery Barn Teen that matched all the mirrors and pictures that we found for her room as well! To complete the look, I added the Microbead Table Lamp, bringing the desk ensemble together beautifully.

Beautifully Crafted Minted Artwork

I initially thought that searching for artwork in a dreamy blue hue would be quite challenging. However, once I began exploring the various options available on Minted, I was excited to find the perfect shade of blue along with stunning designs that Bristol adored. After selecting our favorite prints, I realized I wanted a frame that complemented the gold mirrors and accent pieces I had chosen for her room. Fortunately, Minted offers a handcrafted metallic frame with an elegant brass finish that perfectly matches the other elements. Art print Bloom 1 and Bloom 2 are my absolute favorite pieces that we purchased. You can apply my code KRISTENART to receive 10% off Minted Art and 15% off Minted stationery and gifts. Perhaps you’ll discover the perfect artwork for your bedroom makeover as well!
Mirrors Upon Mirrors Upon Mirrors
I absolutely adore a beautiful mirror, particularly when they’re adorned with gold accents and bows. I discovered the most charming ones at Pottery Barn Teen, which simply had to be included in Bristol’s room makeover. Adorned with floral accents and framed in antique gold, it brings a touch of vintage-inspired elegance to any room.

I hope this transformation fro m a little girl’s room to a tween girl’s bedroom makeover inspires you to choose some items that will enhance your daughter’s space. Personal touches, like framed photos, inspirational quotes, or art she loves, will make the space uniquely hers. Remember, the goal is to create a room that not only looks beautiful but also feels like a comfortable haven where she can grow and thrive! Happy Decorating!
