One of the best times of the year for me is back-to-school season. It’s not just about having the house to myself for a while, but watching the kids light up when they reunite with their friends daily and embrace all the new experiences. From fresh outfits and shoes to a new backpack, and, of course, new books – the excitement is contagious!
I started the back-to-school bookshelves in 2019 when Bristol was 4 years old. She was entering her final year of Preschool and loved reading any book she could find.
I knew I wanted to encourage reading in our home, so I made the decision to add to our personal back-to-school book collection as a wonderful way to achieve that goal. This back-to-school bookshelf had a charming and uncomplicated design. Remember, simplicity can often be just as meaningful as adding extra elements.

As the years went on I continued to enjoy adding to our back-to-school bookshelf. I thoroughly enjoyed enhancing the bookshelves with additional touches over the years. Each shelf became a canvas for new books and signs to create a space that I really started to enjoy being in with my kids. Having these books doesn’t mean much if they’re not being read, so I find it very important to consistently use the reading nook.

This back-to-school season feels a little bittersweet this time around. For those familiar with my website, you are aware of our upcoming move. The cozy book nook I crafted in our rental home will soon become a cherished memory for my family. I am grateful for the memories made here and look forward to establishing a new reading corner in our future home. I believe I’ve already found the ideal location to create our new book nook!
